Professor, Chemical Engineering
Dr Paul Lant is Professor in Chemical Engineering at The University of Queensland. He has an international reputation for his research in the field of wastewater treatment. He is one of the founding persons of the AWMC and one of the major drivers behind the recent establishment of the International WaterCentre, a joint initiative between four leading Australian Universities, with the aim of increasing international engagement of Australian education and training in the field of water resources management. He is Project Director for the development and implementation of a new Master of Integrated Water Management program targeted at mid-level professionals working in developing countries.
Paul is also establishing a reputation as a leading chemical engineering educator, receiving awards for undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision innovations. He has been a member of teams winning national Carrick Awards for both undergraduate and postgraduate education in 2005 and 2006. Paul has also successfully started up a number of commercial ventures. He is the Founder (1999) and Managing Director of the Wastewater Futures group. These comprise IWES, the leading provider of training to environment professionals in Australia, the WWWastewater Training Centre (one of the first online training providers in the global water sector) and AnoxKaldnes Pty Ltd which is a supplier of an innovative wastewater treatment technology.
